PPRC undertakes educational activities at Fountain House. National, regional and international conferences are organised by PPRC in collaboration with other professional organisations. PPRC generates its funds on its own and set up a fund to promote and support local research activities. He changes in International Economic Environment mean that new and emerging economies would have bigger role to play in research in medical and health care area. Provision of robust research governance framework is an essential step in the development of research capacity. It provides protection to the participants and researchers by assuring that only scientifically and ethically sound research is allowed.
We strengthen the ethical approval and monitoring process so that the rights of the participants are protected. For that purpose we follow the Helsinki Declaration WPA Guidelines and The International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines.
The main activities are:
Establishment of a multidisciplinary ethics committee which reviews all the ethics applications and grants approval if appropriate. With this we develop guidelines for submission of ethics application which describe the documentation required, an uniform application process and process of approval.
The committee puts in place a mechanism for monitoring the projects it approves and have the power to withdraw an approval if there were any concerns.
We organize training to the committee members to establish & Support this system.
We develop a system of research support which works collaboratively with National and International organizations and individuals to support research activity conducted in Fountain House and elsewhere in Pakistan.
This system have a variety of activities spanning from the development of a research proposal, ethical approval, implementation of a research project, dissemination of results through conferences and publications.
It provides training to develop skills for these activities as well as directly work with individuals or groups to design research projects and contribute in their implementations.
We are flexible to meet different needs & provide training on site and off site. We will run workshops focused on single projects on request so that appropriate skill mix is brought together to shape a project from beginning to end. We also provide a system of supervision for researchers tailored to their requirements.
